Samsung EVO 120gb SSD (all my files are on my iMac and accessible via LAN and a VPN). I did a clean install of Yosemite and I find it flies. Battery life is very good after 800 cycles, under Mavericks I got 6 hours indication, under Yosemite, I regularly get 6 plus hours on a single charge.

As you can imagine, I do not do very aggressive processing work. Changing to an SSD and upgrading to 8gb of RAM was the best thing I have ever done.

It vastly improved the machine under Mavericks, so much that I am sure that OSX is now optimised for SSD drives. I have now put off buying a new MacBook as this old machine feels 'new'.
